The Dorchester County Career & Technology Center is currently seeking the following positions:

Health Science Instructor

Position requires applicant to be a Registered Nurse, preferably a BSN or MSN, and at least 5 years of industry experience. Salary Range, $40,000 to $50,000 for 190 days.

Welding Instructor

The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center is seeking a full-time Welding Instructor for the Dorchester, S.C. location.  A thorough knowledge of electric shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and gas tungsten arc welding is a must.  Applicant should be certified by The State Department of Education, and if certification is not held, it must be successfully pursued during first year.

Heavy Equipment Operations and Maintenance Instructor

The Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Instructor is responsible for teaching students how to operate five pieces of heavy equipment: Wheel backhoe, Excavator, Wheel loader, Bull Dozer, and Forklift.  The instructor will follow the NCCER lesson plans and curriculum teaching high school students how to safely operate and work in a construction environment.  Students will start on a simulator to learn the basic hand and eye coordination along with the wheel, peddle, and stick controls.  The students will then move out to the back of the school property where they will operate the real equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach students how to operate various pieces of heavy equipment in accordance with industry procedures and safety regulations.
  • Ensure students properly operate equipment, checking and documenting regular maintenance checks.
  • Instruct students on how to perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operating properly.
  • Abide by all local, state and federal regulations.
  • Good rapport with local area businesses for student placement.

Qualifications:

  • Five years’ experience of operating heavy equipment

Contract Length:

 190 days; will be paid over a 12-month period.

Work Hours:

8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
